Western League debutants Brixham welcome Devon Mind to Wall Park

As part of our ongoing partnership with the Toolstation Western Football League, last Saturday (20th April 2024) we were kindly welcomed to Wall Park for Brixham AFC’s home fixture against fellow Devon side Barnstaple Town. Our arrival in the coastal Torbay town was marked by one of the sunniest days of the year thus far, setting the scene for another great day of local football.

Brixham, who were promoted to the Western League as 2022–23 champions of the South West Peninsula League (SWPL) Premier Division East, were supporting our campaign to raise awareness of mental health in the local football community, including players, coaches and fans. Like with our visits to Buckland Athletic, Ilfracombe Town and Barnstaple themselves last season, the Fishermen kindly allowed us to raise vital funds for the charity in the second half, and we’re pleased to report that we raised a total of £149.66 on the day.

Over two seasons, we’ve now visited all four Devon clubs in the Western League, raising a total of just under £600 from generous supporters and the clubs. We’ve also provided posters for changing rooms promoting our mental health support services to players and delivered mental health training to club officials from across the South West. We hope to continue our partnership with the league into the 2024–25 season, when the Devon clubs will be joined by newly crowned SWPL Premier Division East champions Ivybridge Town.
