Wellbeing Walks

In partnership with the South West Coast Path Association

Activity overview:

We’re really pleased to share new dates for our Wellbeing Walks across the Plymouth area for Autumn 2025 in partnership with the South West Coast Path Association. Spending time in nature can benefit both mental and physical wellbeing; research has shown that it can improve mood, reduce stress, improve confidence and self-esteem, reduce loneliness, and help connect with your local community.

Join us to explore the stunning heritage, wildlife, and views on the coast path around Plymouth. These walks are designed for anyone looking to discover more of Plymouth’s coastline in the company of others. All abilities are welcome and there will be plenty of breaks for rest and refreshments along the way.

  • Mount Edgecumbe: Saturday 13 September 2025, 10:30am — 1:30pm

A gentle, mostly flat 4-mile walk along the River Tamar and around Mount Edgecumbe Park and gardens, with one short incline. A great place to connect with nature. The ferry fare is included, and coffee and toilet stops are available along the route.

  • Jennycliff: Wednesday 15 October 2025, 10:30am — 1:30pm

A gentle circular 4-mile walk passing through Mount Batten to Jennycliff for amazing views of Plymouth Sound. From here, we will turn inland to walk to Hooe Lake and back along the coast path to Turnchaple and Mount Batten. The route features lots of local history to explore, with some steps and short inclines. The ferry fare is included, and a coffee stop and toilets are available along the route.

Walk format:

The Wellbeing Walks are facilitated by the South West Coast Path Association and members of the Devon Mind team will also be in attendance. Each session will feature a guided accessible route that is well-connected by public transport. Due to the nature of the coast path, participants are recommended to wear loose, comfortable clothing and supportive shoes, and to bring along a drink or water bottle. Dogs are also very welcome to join the walk.

Sessions are free to attend — registration is required to join. These sessions are likely to be in popular demand, so please ensure that you are able to attend before signing up.

Please note: You do not have to be of any particular level of fitness to attend these walks.
