Wellbeing Activities

Supporting you to develop positive wellbeing

Mental wellbeing doesn’t have one set meaning. We might use it to talk about how we feel, how well we’re coping with daily life, or what feels possible at that given moment. Good mental wellbeing doesn’t mean that you’re always happy, or that you’re unaffected by your experiences.

Evidence suggests that there are 5 steps we can take to improve our mental wellbeing:

  1. Connect with others — This can help us to build a sense of belonging and self-worth, whilst providing emotional support.

  2. Be physically active — Being active is not only great for physical health and fitness, but can also help us set goals and challenges, whilst boosting our mood.

  3. Learn new skills — Learning new skills can boost our self-confidence, raise our self-esteem, and help us to build a sense of purpose.

  4. Give to others Acts of giving and kindness can create positive feelings and a sense of reward and self-worth.

  5. Pay attention to the present moment — Paying more attention to the present moment and practicing mindfulness can positively change the way we feel about life and how we approach challenges.

At Devon Mind, we want to be able to offer a variety of additional activities to our clients, providing exposure to the 5 steps above, that can, in turn, promote positive mental and physical wellbeing. Below is a menu of current activities, some of which are run solely by Devon Mind, others in collaboration with other partner organisations, and some from wider local community groups. Keep an eye on this page as we look to develop further activities across the county.
