Wellbeing Walks

In partnership with the South West Coast Path Association

Activity overview:

We’re really pleased to share new 2026 dates for our Wellbeing Walks across the Plymouth area in partnership with the South West Coast Path Association. Spending time in nature can benefit both mental and physical wellbeing; research has shown that it can improve mood, reduce stress, improve confidence and self-esteem, reduce loneliness, and help connect with your local community.

Join us to explore the stunning heritage, wildlife, and views on the coast path around Plymouth. These walks are designed for anyone looking to discover more of Plymouth’s coastline in the company of others. All abilities are welcome and there will be plenty of breaks for rest and refreshments along the way.

  • Oreston to Mount Batten, River Plym Lakes: Thursday 26 February 2026, 10:30am — 1:30pm

A gentle 3-mile walk following the South West Coast Path alongside the opposite side of the River Plym. We will be exploring Oreston, Radford, Hooe Lake, and the various beauty spots and local heritage along this route, and enjoying a coffee stop in Turnchaple before returning to the city centre by public transport.

  • Mount Edgcumbe, Folly and Woodlands: Saturday 21 March 2026, 10:30am — 1:30pm

A gentle 3-mile walk around Mount Edgcumbe park to connect with nature, with a brief incline to the folly for a fantastic view of the Plymouth Sound. From here, we will return to the house through the woodlands to the cafe for a short break. The ferry fare is included, and toilet stops are available along the route.

  • Calstock, Wetlands and Okel Tor Mine: Tuesday 28 April 2026, 10:00am — 2:00pm

A gentle 3-mile walk alongside the River Tamar, exploring the interesting heritage of the beautiful landscape in Calstock Wetlands and Okel Tor Mine. The train journey from Plymouth Railway Station and a coffee are included.

Walk format:

The Wellbeing Walks are facilitated by the South West Coast Path Association, and members of the Devon Mind team will also be in attendance. Each session will feature a guided accessible route that is well-connected by public transport. Due to the nature of the coast path, participants are recommended to wear loose, comfortable clothing and supportive shoes, and to bring along a water bottle. Dogs are also very welcome to join the walk.

Registration is required to join. Each walk costs £4.50, and transport and a drink from a local cafe en route are included. This small contribution towards expenses helps support our continued sustainability in delivering our wellbeing walks along the South West Coast Path.

Please note: You do not have to be of any particular level of fitness to attend these walks.
