Recovery Practitioner — Wellbeing Activity Lead

• Type: Part-time (22.5 hours/week) • Salary: £15,606 per annum (£26,010 pro-rata) • Location: Plymouth • Term: Permanent • Closes: When filled

Are you passionate about supporting people to improve their mental health and wellbeing? Do you enjoy helping people connect with others and discover activities that support their recovery?

We are looking to recruit a part-time Recovery Practitioner — Wellbeing Activity Lead (22.5 hours/week) to join our team. These hours can be worked flexibly over the week.

Devon Mind is dedicated to improving the wellbeing and quality of life of the people who use our services. We provide individual mental health support and opportunities for people to connect with others, develop coping skills and take part in activities that support their recovery.

The successful candidate will provide high-quality, person-centred one-to-one support to a caseload of people experiencing mental health and social difficulties, helping them work towards their recovery goals. The role will also lead the development and delivery of inclusive wellbeing activities, including walking groups, arts and crafts groups, and swimming, to support wellbeing and social connection.

About the role:

In this role, you will hold a caseload and provide one-to-one support to people experiencing a range of mental health difficulties. You will work with people to understand their needs, strengthen their coping skills, and take steps towards their personal goals. You will also connect people with other local services and opportunities where appropriate.

Alongside your caseload, you will take the lead in developing and delivering inclusive wellbeing activities. These will include walking groups, support groups, arts and crafts, bouldering and swimming, with scope to develop other activities in response to service users’ interests and needs.

You will work with colleagues and local partners to develop opportunities for service users, and may also contribute to courses, groups and workshops as part of Devon Mind’s wider support offer.

Training is provided. While experience of support work and an understanding of approaches to supporting people with complex needs would be welcome, we are also keen to hear from applicants with transferable skills and behaviours. We are looking for someone who can build trusting relationships, manage a caseload and lead accessible activities that support mental health and wellbeing.
