Calm Your Mind: Understanding Anxiety
Workshop introducing strategies to manage anxiety
Workshop overview:
Everyone experiences feelings of anxiety from time to time, but not everyone’s experiences will be exactly the same. Calm Your Mind: Understanding Anxiety is an online workshop which will help you to gain an understanding of what anxiety is and why you might experience these feelings at any particular time — sometimes for no obvious reason. It also provides some basic guidance on learning simple techniques to manage anxiety, and provides attendees the opportunity to discuss what has worked for them.
The first part of the workshop, ‘An introduction to Understanding Anxiety’, will look at some of the theories around where anxiety comes from and how it presents, introduce some ideas around reducing anxiety, and provide attendees with an online resource list for further exploration.
The second half of the workshop, ‘Starting to manage Anxiety’, will introduce some established techniques which have already proven useful in helping others manage their anxiety. There will also be opportunities to discuss what works for you. During the workshop format, we will be encouraging conversations about strategies and techniques that have been useful to you.
Workshop format:
Calm Your Mind: Understanding Anxiety is a 1 x 2.5-hour online session. The workshop is hosted by our Recovery Practitioner staff and Support Volunteers, who will guide attendees through the presentation focused on the core topics above. The online format will include discussion through group chat, breakout rooms, text chat, and we will allow time for questions. A member of staff will be available on Teams 30 minutes before the start of the session to support with any technical difficulties. A short comfort break will be available during the session.
This workshop costs £5 to attend, which is required upfront when registering to join. This small fee helps support our continued sustainability in delivering courses and workshops.
