Launching The Anchor Project
Devon Mind is launching The Anchor Project, a new counselling service for parents and guardians supporting children and young people with mental or emotional health difficulties, made possible thanks to the generous support of Focus Foundation.
The project will offer free one-to-one counselling sessions, providing carers with a safe, confidential space to talk openly, process difficult emotions, and learn practical strategies to protect their own wellbeing. Counselling will be available flexibly, including face-to-face, online, and telephone sessions, with daytime and evening appointments to fit around family life.
Alongside counselling, parents and guardians will be encouraged to access Devon Mind’s peer support groups and psychoeducation courses, helping families feel less alone and better equipped for the long term.
Olivia Craig, Chief Executive of Devon Mind, said:
“Parents and carers are often holding everything together for their child while neglecting their own wellbeing. The Anchor Project recognises that carers need care too. Thanks to Focus Foundation’s support, we can offer parents and guardians the time, space, and professional support they deserve.”
Devon Mind would like to sincerely thank Focus Foundation for enabling this vital support for families at a time of growing need. The Anchor Project will launch in February 2026; please keep an eye on our website for further details.
