Today, we want to share with you a quick success story of one of our Mind Walk in aid of Devon Mind fundraisers, Dave Brown!

Dave completed his #DevonMindWalk a week early, on Saturday 26th June, and walked an incredible distance of 44 km (27.4 miles) from Exeter to Sidmouth. Along the way, he took in breathtaking views all along the East Devon Coast, as he walked sections of the South West Coast Path towards his finish line.

On his fundraising page to date, Dave has raised almost £300 for Devon Mind — smashing his initial target of £100 and his stretch target of £200! In setting up his campaign, Dave wrote that: “I suffer with depression and have been to hell with it. Mind supported me throughout, so now I will support them.”

Dave kept his 2,400+ Instagram followers updated during his walk, and afterwards shared a video montage of some of the amazing views he enjoyed, which you can view below. He was joined by friends for later sections of the trek, which he completed in an impressive 6 hours and 44 minutes (an average of around 6.5 km/4 miles per hour). Posting on Instagram afterwards, he urged others to challenge themselves, writing: “You can do it. Believe in yourself. You can achieve anything. The enemy is depression and it’s days like today we win. We smile at depression. It can’t touch us! Lets keep fighting together. To everyone that donated, it means the world.”
